It’s been quite a while now since we introduced Benjamin to solids when he was around 5 or 6 months old and we decided to take the baby led weaning route. Neither of us were interested in starting Benjamin with puréed food, and after a bit of reading around of several weaning books we preferred to try the idea of baby led weaning and letting your child/baby choose what they wanted to try. This was more often or not the same food we were eating at the time as our diet is ‘relatively’ healthy – low salt, balanced, home cooked, etc, that sort of thing. We also at the time generally cooked foods for ourselves that would also be easier for Benjamin to handle. E.g. pasta dishes. But we soon found he was able to deal with harder food even without teeth… it just took longer and as you can see it left us with some great memories!
