So you are planning a wedding, and you want somebody to record the event but who you have to take the photos? Do you go for the friend or the professional photographer? As a professional photographer ‘it’ could be said I have a vested interest, BUT like many other professional photogs I have covered other…Read details
What do you do with your pictures? Do you have some which are so nice you want to display them on your wall? Or are your images always stuck on your computer? Okay, to be fair in many respects it comes down to what the image content is. Most images taken, generally supported by what…Read details
Well the Isabella Plantation is at the moment an absolute riot of colour especially from the azaleas and rhododendrons. The woodland areas off the main track are also rather nice, particularly on lovely sunny spring days like we’re having now. So there is a great opportunity for photographs of the flowers and scenes, but this…Read details
I’ve had a whole bunch of nice images to add to my portfolio and finally had a chance to add them to the website. I’ve kept some of my older favourites, but the current set is reflects my styles of photography much more. Let me know what you think of them!
Spring is a little behind this year, but there’s a lot of colour already and the main blaze of spring colour glory from azaleas and rhodendrons at Virginia Water is just starting to break out. I think in a week or two time it will be a mass of colour and a fantastic location…Read details
One of my clients had a recent nice surprise. Without being told, her relatives had booked and put a deposit down for a wedding photographer. Very nice, except in the meantime the bride had requested my services, but not yet signed the contract. It could have ended up a very sticky situation created by some…Read details
Some of the images taken during the day.
Finally the other weekend I got a chance to test out the Lastolite TriGrip reflector I got as part of the deal for joining the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers). Must admit the results are impressive and one of those ‘why did I not one of these earlier?’ kind of things so I’ll…Read details
Well its here, spring and our price list for family portraiture. We came back from the SWPP convention earlier in the year and FOCUS 2011 laden down with product catalogues, some fantastic ideas and already some must haves in our offerings. However, while we finalise all of that we wanted to offer something nice, so…Read details
Massive rush of emotions at the moment, exhilarated, buzzing, tired, but most of all energised! I’m back from a Mother’s Day photoshoot at Stadium Nursery, West Ealing, photographing all the children there and a few families. Spent all day at the nursery and all the pre-planning paid off. I now have something like 1600 images…Read details
A couple who I took their wedding photos last year have just sent me a testimonial and its left me feeling rather embarrassed (in a good way!)… “Thank you for playing such a special part in our wedding day in May 2010, without you we would not have the precious images that we hold so…Read details
Well FOCUS 2011 was certainly worth going to for us, although it required quite a bit of organisation as it was the first weekend that Tini and me would have together without Benjamin and Benjamin’s first ever nights away staying with somebody else, namely his grandparents and aunty.. maybe I should have said ‘besotted’ there…Read details
Looking forward to the FOCUS on Imaging 2011 event at the NEC, Birmingham which is on next week from Sunday 6 March – Wednesday 9 March. It’s a massive trade show for photographers and great for amateurs and professionals. I’m sure I’ll find plenty of inspiration regarding the technical side of things and doing my…Read details
Returned the hired flash heads today. Hiring them was a good idea as it allowed me to test them out and try before buying. I was also toying with the idea that might be worth hiring each time, but I’ve ruled that idea out. There’s the time factor of waiting and being around for the…Read details
At last our living room is back to normal after the last day of testing the lighting. Day 3 proved to be the most useful, as it was quite systematic playing with the camera settings to use (full manual control), then looking at different arrangements of lighting. Benjamin stayed asleep for the whole of…Read details
Well the intention was to do a family photoshoot in the morning and then go to do a photoshoot with another family in the afternoon. But only managed to get the morning photoshoot in as my little went down with a fever. Normally that would not stop me visiting clients, but in this case the…Read details
Heading over to Fortune Green, North London on Saturday for a family portrait shoot. Not sure yet whether it will be purely lifestyle photography or some studio style work. Either way it promises to be interesting. Will post images when I get the opportunity.
Testing out a new lighting arrangement this weekend and first results are nice. The balance between the front and back lighting might need adjustment, but I like the results of the current settings. More experimentation over the weekend. [Tech specs: Using a Lastolite HiLite background and acrylic roll floor. HiLite lit from inside using two…Read details
I am upgrading the studio lighting soon so testing out an Elinchrom lighting set up this weekend to see whether I like the lights and that the planned configuration works. I have a photoshoot this weekend anyway so a good opportunity to try it all out.
A new blog on the block and your way to keep upto date with what’s happening at Kit Logan Photography. Look out for some great images as well.
